All twenty-two schools are staffed by highly qualified teachers. Every day, these schools and staff do amazing things for our students. Each year we would like to take the opportunity to highlight some of these accomplishments, programs, and more. Several schools will be "featured" on a weekly basis, and then their highlights will move into a folder under the Accolades section of our website for the public to view all year long. Weekly ACPS Highlights John Humbird Elementary School Veterans Day Celebration 2022 On November 9, 2022, John Humbird Elementary School hosted a Veterans Day celebration. ACPS reminds students and families that it is important for students to be in school on this holiday so that they have the opportunity to learn what Veterans Day is and why it is celebrated annually on November 11th. Mt. Savage School Holiday Door Decorating Contest Mt. Savage school held a holiday door decorating contest, and each classroom had the opportunity to participate in an effort to win a pizza party just prior to the Christmas break. Two winners are selected by a panel of judges - one at the elementary level, and one at the middle school level. The volunteer judges for this year’s contest were Dr. Eric Van Slyke, ACPS Science Supervisor; Mr. Zachary Stickley, Lt. in the West Virginia National Guard; Mr. Randy Murray, local resident; Mr. Teddy Abucevicz, 1951 Mt. Savage graduate; and Mrs. Betsy Green, ACPS Title I Specialist. Vision and Mission of ACPS ACPS Vision Statement: To support all students in reaching their potential by providing a positive, safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment. ACPS Mission Statement: To ensure that students acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes supporting them in becoming caring and productive members of their community. Virtual Learning Schedules 2023-2024 ACPS will use three asynchronous days first if the district is closed due to inclement weather. Up to five synchronous days will be used, if needed , beyond the three asynchronous days. For the synchronous (real-time learning with a teacher) days, students will need to login to Schoology and attend their classes.
